ABV: 12.5%
Bottle Size: 750ml
Blend: 100% Pinot Noir.
Region: Écueil Premier Cru, Montagne de Reims, Champagne, France
Viticulture: Biodynamic farming. Hand-harvested Pinot Noir from two lieu-dits in Écueil. Old vines rooted in the village’s characteristic sandy clay soils over chalk. Winter ploughing, natural ground cover and homemade organic preparations support soil life.
Winemaking: Slowly pressed in a traditional Coquard press. Spontaneous fermentation and élevage in oak barrels with minimal intervention and no racking. Aged on the lees in bottle before hand disgorgement. Unfined and unfiltered, with little or no dosage depending on the release.
Gaspard Brochet is part of a new generation giving fresh energy to the Montagne de Reims. Based in Écueil, he took over part of his family’s domaine in 2017 and has quickly become known for Champagnes that are small in production but full of character. Working across parcels in Écueil, Villers-aux-Nœuds and Sacy, he focuses largely on single-vineyard and single-vintage expressions, with all three Champagne varieties playing a role.
The wines are vinous, textured and expressive, often showing ripe fruit, smoky components and a clear sense of place rather than a polished house style. There is a natural confidence to the work: precise, personal and slightly untamed, with the feeling of a grower still close to the vineyards and willing to let each parcel speak in its own voice.
