Domaine Confuron-Gindre
Winemaker Profile | Burgundy, France
Domaine Confuron-Gindre was founded in 1989 by François Confuron in Vosne-Romanée. Since joining the estate in 2014, Édouard, Francois’ son has endeavoured to produce a range of generous wines with personal flair. The estate cultivates approximately 11 hectares of vineyards in the villages of Vosne-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges, and Gevrey-Chambertin. Situated on Rue de La Tâche, Domaine Confuron-Gindre is nothing if not blessed with some of the most outstanding vineyard sites in the whole of Vosne-Romanée, with a flurry of Premier Cru vineyards such as Aux Brûlées, Les Chaumes and Les Beaux Monts and enviable lieux-dits villages such as la Colombière and Les Hautes Maizières.
The Domaine’s philosophy places real emphasis on sustainable and common-sense viticulture. Natural methods such as horse plowing are employed to mitigate disease pressure in a measured way. Vineyard work is aligned as much as possible with the lunar cycles and the estate’s cherished old vines coupled with the practice of Millerandage contribute to the concentration of the wines. The decision to use whole cluster fermentation is taken on a vintage by vintage basis.
Confuron-Gindre is a remarkable estate that offers a selection of classically styled, enticing wines that tell the tale of their unique sites. Producing timeless wines means that today, Confuron-Gindre tempts seasoned burgundy drinkers and neophytes alike.
