Domaine Nicolas Faure
Winemaker Profile | Burgundy, France
The Domaine Nicolas Faure was founded in 2011 by Nicolas Faure in Meuilley, near Nuits-Saint-Georges. Without a family background in winemaking, Faure began his career with stints at renowned estates such as Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Jean-Louis Chave, and Prieuré-Roch. These experiences significantly shaped his approach to viticulture. His wife, Amélie Berthaut, manages the family estate Berthaut-Gerbet, with Nicolas providing support.
The Domaine spans approximately one hectare of vineyards, divided into several parcels. Notable sites include Les Herbues in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Aux Argillières in the Bourgogne appellation, and La Corvée de Bully in the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune. Faure primarily cultivates Pinot Noir, complemented by Aligoté and Gamay. His wines are characterized by finesse and authenticity, faithfully reflecting the terroir of their origin.

Nicolas Faure places great emphasis on sustainable viticulture. He carefully manages his vineyards manually, avoiding the use of chemicals. In vinification, he exclusively uses indigenous yeasts and employs whole-cluster fermentation. The wines are aged in used barrels to ensure an unaltered expression of both the wine’s character and the terroir.
