Elio Altare is a pioneer of the modern Barolo style. After a formative trip to Burgundy in 1976, he introduced barriques, shorter maceration times, and low yields to winemaking in Piedmont. Today, the family estate in La Morra is run by his daughter Silvia and is known for elegant, terroir-driven wines.
