Viticulture: Organically farmed and hand-harvested fruit sourced from the Petite Montagne de Reims. Earlier releases centred on old-vine Meunier planted in 1965 in La Motelle, near Brochet’s estate in Villers-aux-Nœuds.
Winemaking: Indigenous-yeast fermentation followed by around 11 months on the lees in used Burgundian oak barrels. Malolactic fermentation completed. Bottled without fining or filtration and aged for around 15–24 months on the lees in bottle. Disgorged as Extra Brut, generally with 2–4g/l dosage.
Emmanuel Brochet is a Champagne producer from Villers-aux-Noeuds, France, known for his organic vineyard Le Mont Benoit. Starting in 1997, he transitioned to organic farming by 2008, emphasizing terroir through minimal intervention and indigenous yeast fermentation. His Champagnes, including the notable Le Mont Benoit and Rose de Saignee Extra Brut, are acclaimed for their complexity and expressive quality.
