Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier occupies a particularly cherished place in Chambolle-Musigny, and indeed in Burgundy more broadly. Since Frédéric Mugnier returned to the family estate in the mid-1980s, it has become associated with wines of remarkable transparency and composure, drawn from enviable holdings including Chambolle-Musigny, Bonnes-Mares and the grand cru Musigny itself. These are not wines of spectacle, but of nuance: fragrant, finely textured and quietly persistent, with a refinement that has helped secure the domaine’s status as one of the great names of the Côte de Nuits.
