Domaine Berthaut-Gerbet has become one of the most interesting names in the northern Côte de Nuits, rooted in Fixin. The domaine took its current form when Amélie Berthaut returned to the family estate in 2013, bringing together the Berthaut holdings in Fixin with the Gerbet side of the family in Vosne.
The wines have helped bring renewed attention to Fixin, a village often overshadowed by its more famous neighbours. They show the structure and savoury depth expected from the northern Côte de Nuits, but with a more precise, fragrant and refined touch than the village’s old reputation might suggest. Across the range, from Fixin to Vosne-Romanée, Berthaut-Gerbet has become known for Burgundy that is clear, emotive with enough seriousness to age. Domaine Bethaut-Gerbet may be one of the few remaining secrets of the Côte de Nuits that those who understand great Burgundy cherish.
