ABV: 14%
Bottle Size: 750ml
Region: Pomerol, Bordeaux, France
Blend: Typically 75–85% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and some Cabernet Sauvignon.
Viticulture: Traditional parcel-by-parcel farming. The contiguous 14-hectare vineyard is divided into 23 individually managed plots planted on gravel. The grand vin is selected principally from the estate’s oldest vines. Hand harvested.
Winemaking: Grape varieties and parcels are vinified separately in temperature-controlled oak vats. Merlot may complete malolactic fermentation in barrel, while Cabernet Franc generally completes it in vat. Aged for 18–22 months in 50–65% new barrels depending on the vintage.
Vieux Château Certan, located in the heart of Pomerol, has been managed by the Thienpont family since 1924. The estate is renowned for its exceptional red wines, primarily crafted from Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. These wines are distinguished by their elegance, depth, and harmony, reflecting the unique terroir of Pomerol. The Thienpont family, also owners of the prestigious Château Le Pin, has made Vieux Château Certan a symbol of excellence in the world of wine.
