Weingut Besson-Strasser
Winemaker Profile | Zurich, Switzerland
Nadine and Cédric Besson-Strasser met during their oenology studies in Changins and took over the family estate in Uhwiesen, in the Zurich wine region near the Rhine Falls, in 2005. The Besson-Strasser winery has been run by them ever since. Since taking over the operation, they have gradually transitioned to biodynamic farming methods with the goal of creating an authentic natural product.
The winery's vineyards span the Zurich region and include both indigenous and international grape varieties. Notably, the traditional Zurich variety Räuschling, as well as Pinot Noir and Malbec, are cultivated. Outstanding wines include Pinot Noir "Chlosterberg", Pinot Noir "Albi", and "Fumé".
The winery's philosophy is based on a holistic approach to viticulture. Nadine and Cédric Besson-Strasser observe and support nature and the vines, use biodynamic preparations, and take the unpredictability of meteorological conditions into account. Their goal is to understand and accompany natural processes to produce wines that reflect the terroir and cultural heritage of the region.
