Weingut Fromm
Winemaker Profile | Grisons, Switzerland
Fromm Winery, based in the village of Malans in Graubünden, is today led by Marco Fromm, who brings both long experience and a steady commitment to quality to this cherished estate. The family began focusing on viticulture in the 1970s, and over the decades the estate has become a reference point in the Bündner Herrschaft Region .
Pinot Noir is the speciality here and Fromm’s iteration of this grape is widely regarded among the finest examples in the country. Alongside it, Fromm cultivates Chardonnay, Riesling, and Completer – the latter being a historic Graubünden variety. The vineyards, rooted in poor, limestone-dominated soils, yield wines marked by precision, tension, and clarity. The Fromm style is distinctively refined and, dare we say, Burgundian.

Farming is fully organic, with chemical interventions kept to a bare minimum in both vineyard and cellar. Fermentations rely on natural yeasts to commence, extractions are gentle, and élevage is adapted to the variety: Pinot Noir typically raised in a mix of barriques and larger oak while whites only ever see stainless steel to retain freshness. The aim at each step is too ensure transparency but also serious depth.
Chez Fromm, one has come to expect wines that express site and vintage with authenticity and polish.
