Viticulture: Certified organic vineyards since 1990, with biodynamic practices. A 2.4-hectare vineyard at around 280 metres, planted in 1950, 1999 and 2018. Sandy soils with silt and clay. Hand harvested. 

Winemaking: Destemmed without crushing and fermented with indigenous yeasts in concrete tanks for three to four weeks. Aged for 12 months in large casks, barrels and amphora, followed by 12 months in bottle.

Bricco Ernesto is a small, highly individual estate in Priocca, in the Roero hills of Piedmont. Led by Renato Vezza, the domaine has quickly become one of the more talked-about names in the area, drawing attention to a side of Roero that is serious, precise and deeply expressive.

The focus is mainly on Nebbiolo and Arneis, grown from old, carefully farmed vineyards on the sandy soils that give Roero its particular perfume and lift. The wines have structure, but they are not heavy; they tend to show fragrance, energy and a fine-grained texture, with Nebbiolo that feels both traditional and unusually alive. Bricco Ernesto is still small in scale, but it has already become a compelling reference for the new confidence of Roero.
