ABV: 13–13.5%

Flaschengrösse: 750 ml

Grape: Pinot Noir

Region: Graubünden, Bündner Herrschaft, Switzerland

Viticulture: Sustainable farming without herbicides or pesticides. Burgundy-clone Pinot Noir from weathered schist and gneiss soils, with vines averaging around 30 years. All vineyard work and harvesting by hand.

Winemaking: Gently destemmed with around 20% whole bunches. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in open wooden vats with twice-daily punch-downs. Aged for around 14 months in 100% new Tronçais oak barriques. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Weingut Gantenbein has become one of Switzerland’s most quietly celebrated domaines, based in Fläsch in the Bündner Herrschaft. Founded by Martha and Daniel Gantenbein, the estate is best known for Pinot Noir of striking finesse and clarity, alongside Chardonnay and a little Riesling. The wines are neither ostentatious nor merely Burgundian in imitation; they seem instead to translate the Alpine light and limestone-rich soils of Graubünden into something finely etched, fragrant and composed. In a country whose greatest wines too often remain a secret abroad, Gantenbein has become an essential reference point.
