Domaine du Bouchot

Winemaker Profile | Loire, France

The Domaine du Bouchot was founded in 1987 by Rachel and Pascal Kerbiquet in Saint-Andelain, at the heart of the Pouilly-Fumé appellation. As the first estate in the region, they transitioned to certified organic farming in 2009 and introduced biodynamic practices in 2012. In 2019, Antoine Gouffier, after twelve years of international winemaking experience, took over the estate together with his wife, Ilse Nel. Pascal Kerbiquet remained by their side as a mentor and expert in biodynamics.

The Domaine cultivates approximately ten hectares of vineyards, exclusively planted with Sauvignon Blanc. The vineyards are situated on diverse terroirs, including the limestone soils of Portlandian and Kimmeridge. Notable wines include the "Pouilly-Fumé Terres Blanches," renowned for its freshness and minerality, and the "Pouilly-Fumé Caillottes," which features floral and fruity notes.

The philosophy of the estate is rooted in a deep respect for nature and the terroir. Antoine Gouffier employs biodynamic farming practices, promotes biodiversity in the vineyards, and minimizes intervention during vinification to authentically reflect the character of the terroir in the wines. This approach has earned Domaine du Bouchot recognition for its elegant and precise Pouilly-Fumé wines.
