Mariia Mackh
Head of Sales Gastronomy
Mariia Mackh’s journey in food and wine began in 2012 when she moved to Switzerland to study at the Culinary Arts Academy. There, she met Alexander, and their shared passion for food quickly turned into a partnership that took them across the world, exploring wines, flavors, and their connections.
After graduating, Mariia worked at the family hotel in the Austrian Alps, overseeing the food program while refining her understanding of wine. With the hotel operating seasonally, the first winter break became an opportunity to travel. Tuscany was the first stop, where she explored how wine and food could enhance each other when thoughtfully paired.
As wine became an increasingly important part of the dining experience, Mariia played a key role in evaluating selections for the hotel, ensuring they complemented the cuisine. This deepened her understanding of how wine fits into a broader gastronomic context and shaped her perspective on sourcing and presentation.
With Grassl Glass came new challenges. Through her experience in hospitality, Mariia recognized the need for practical, well-designed tools to complement delicate glassware. She developed accessories like the polishing cloth, which quickly became a favorite among professionals looking for both functionality and elegance.
When COVID slowed things down, Mariia took the time to reevaluate. Could the thoughtful accessories she had developed become part of something larger? This idea laid the foundation for Amelie—a brand that merges wine, design, and functionality into a seamless experience.
Today, Mariia supplies wine to some of Switzerland’s best restaurants, ensuring each selection aligns with her philosophy of authenticity and quality. As Amelie’s creative director, she oversees branding and design, making sure every detail reflects the company’s vision. She also plays a key role in product development, deciding which tools will enhance wine service and elevate the experience. Through Amelie, Mariia continues to shape a brand that brings together her expertise in food, wine, and design.
