ABV: 13.5%
Bottle Size: 750ml
Blend: 90–95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5–10% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot, with occasional Cabernet Franc
Region: Pauillac, Bordeaux, France
Viticulture: Transitioning to organic farming. The 112-hectare vineyard comprises the slopes surrounding the Château, the Carruades plateau and 4.5 hectares in neighbouring Saint-Estèphe. Vines grow on deep, fine gravel mixed with windblown sand over well-drained limestone subsoil. Although the average vine age is 45 years, the estate also preserves a small number of ungrafted vines approaching 140 years old.
Winemaking: Fermented for around 15 days in temperature-controlled vats at 26–27°C. Each barrel is assessed individually before the final blend. Aged for 15 months in new French oak barrels produced by the estate’s own cooperage. Cabernet Sauvignon normally dominates the blend, followed by Merlot and a small proportion of Petit Verdot.
