ABV: 14%
Bottle Size: 750ml
Blend: 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc.
Region: Pomerol, Bordeaux, France
Viticulture: Precision parcel-by-parcel farming. The 12-hectare vineyard is planted on clay and gravel soils across the Pomerol plateau. Around 80% has been restructured at a density of 9,000 vines per hectare. Each vine is individually recorded, and harvesting is carried out in several passes according to ripeness.
Winemaking: Cold pre-fermentation maceration for five to seven days. Integral micro-vinification in small temperature-controlled French oak barrels, allowing individual subplots to be fermented separately. Aged for around 18 months in 100% new French oak, including approximately three months on the post-malolactic lees.
Château Le Gay, located in Pomerol, has a history tracing back to at least 1845. Formerly managed by sisters Therese and Marie Robin, the estate saw significant quality improvements under Catherine Pere-Verge's ownership from 2001. Now managed by Henri Parent, the 10.5-hectare vineyard, primarily Merlot, produces concentrated, deeply flavored wines, known for their rich Pomerol character.
