Jane Anson
Jane Anson is an internationally recognized wine writer and one of the leading experts on Bordeaux wines. She has lived in Bordeaux since 2003 and spent nearly two decades as the region’s correspondent for Decanter magazine. In 2021, she launched her own platform, janeanson.com, which focuses on in-depth analysis, tasting notes, and reports on Bordeaux and other fine wines.
Her comprehensive book Inside Bordeaux (2020) is considered a milestone in wine literature. The book not only offers detailed profiles of over 800 estates, but places a strong emphasis on terroir – the geological and climatic conditions that shape the character of the wines. With the support of terroir expert Professor Kees van Leeuwen, the work includes more than 65 newly created maps illustrating the diversity of soils and vineyard sites across Bordeaux.
Jane Anson is also the author of several other books, including Bordeaux Legends: The 1855 First Growth Wines, Wine Revolution, and monographs on prestigious estates such as Haut-Bailly and Angélus. She is a certified wine educator at the Bordeaux École du Vin and holds the DUAD diploma from the University of Bordeaux.
Her work has earned numerous accolades, including IWSC Wine Communicator of the Year 2023 and Louis Roederer Wine Online Communicator of the Year 2020.
