Jasper Morris

Jasper Morris MW is one of the world’s leading authorities on Burgundy wines. Born in 1957 in Hampshire, England, he studied Modern History at the University of Oxford. After graduating, he chose not to pursue a legal career and instead dedicated himself to his passion for wine. In 1981, he founded the import company Morris & Verdin, which specialized in Burgundy wines. In 1985, he earned the prestigious title of "Master of Wine."

In 2003, Morris & Verdin was acquired by Berry Bros. & Rudd, where Morris served as Burgundy Director until 2017. During this time, he published his comprehensive work Inside Burgundy in 2010, which is regarded as a definitive reference on the region. The second, expanded edition was released in 2021, offering detailed information on over 1,200 vineyards, 300 villages, and 700 wine estates, complemented by updated maps and analyses.

Since 2018, Morris has operated the platform InsideBurgundy.com, where he regularly publishes tasting notes, producer profiles, and vintage reports. His deep connection to the region is also reflected in his role as an advisor to the annual Hospices de Beaune wine auction, initially for Christie’s and later for Sotheby’s.

Morris has received numerous accolades for his contributions, including the André Simon Book Award for both editions of Inside Burgundy and the title Chevalier de l'Ordre du Mérite Agricole. His work is marked by deep expertise, precision, and a passionate dedication to the world of Burgundy.
