Region: Langhe Nebbiolo, Piedmont, Italy

Viticulture: Organically farmed younger vines in La Morra and Monforte d’Alba, planted in 2017 at 300–400 metres. Limestone-clay marl soils with fossilised shells. Grass is retained between the rows and the grapes are hand harvested.

Winemaking: Whole-cluster use varies by vintage, from fully destemmed to around 50% whole bunches. Fermented spontaneously in concrete with gentle extraction and gravity movement. Aged for around eight months in large Austrian oak vats, with no new oak.

Azienda Agricola Lalù is a young estate in the Langhe, created by Lara and Luisa, two friends from Turin who came to wine through study, travel and hands-on work rather than family inheritance. Based in Serralunga d’Alba, they have quickly become associated with a fresh, precise and thoughtful reading of Piedmont.

Their work centres on Nebbiolo, with wines that favour clarity, finesse and vineyard character over force. There is a confidence to the style: floral, energetic and finely structured, with the seriousness of the Langhe but without unnecessary weight. Lalù feels very much like a domaine of its generation — small, focused and personal, yet already marked by a strong sense of place.
