Region: Pomerol, Bordeaux, France

Blend: Typically 75–85% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and some Cabernet Sauvignon.

Viticulture: Traditional parcel-by-parcel farming. The contiguous 14-hectare vineyard is divided into 23 individually managed plots planted  on gravel. The grand vin is selected principally from the estate’s oldest vines. Hand harvested.

Winemaking: Grape varieties and parcels are vinified separately in temperature-controlled oak vats. Merlot may complete malolactic fermentation in barrel, while Cabernet Franc generally completes it in vat. Aged for 18–22 months in French oak, typically with 50–65% new barrels depending on the vintage.

Vieux Château Certan, situé au cœur de Pomerol, est dirigé par la famille Thienpont depuis 1924. Le domaine est réputé pour ses vins rouges exceptionnels, principalement élaborés à partir de Merlot, complétés par du Cabernet Franc et du Cabernet Sauvignon. Ces vins se distinguent par leur élégance, leur profondeur et leur harmonie, reflétant le terroir unique de Pomerol.
