AMELIE STAEFA

Since the founding of our first wine distribution company — then called Alpine Cellar — we’ve been asking ourselves: what should a true wine shop feel like? Not just a place to sell bottles, but a space where a philosophy can take shape. A place to meet, discover, and explore.

This vision has followed us ever since, through the vineyards of Tuscany and Piemonte, where we met the first producers who resonated with our values. Then came Bordeaux, the Rhône, Champagne, and Burgundy. Most recently, we discovered what is perhaps our most exciting journey so far: great Swiss wine.

This ongoing exploration gave birth to our Bottles category — a curated collection from classic regions that express a true sense of place and craftsmanship. These are the wines we believe in.

In 2018, Alexander found that none of the glassware brands on the market fully satisfied him. That led to designing our own. In 2022, we introduced the Amelie Glasses — born from the same uncompromising approach to function, form, and purity. This marked the beginning of the Glasses category.

Naturally, glassware and wine require the right tools to enjoy them fully. Whether it’s a bottle opener that works beautifully, a polishing cloth that doesn’t leave streaks, or a carry case for your glasses, we didn’t want to offer hundreds of products. Just the ones that matter — for daily and weekly use. Thus, the Lifestyle category took shape.

To support our own development, we sought out books — the kind of niche wine literature and visual maps that aren’t widely available. Out of necessity, we started building our own small, specialized selection. That became Stories — our growing library of resources that celebrate the craft and context of wine.
