ABV: 13.5%

Bottle Size: 750ml

Blend: 90-95% Cabernet Sauvignon completed with Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot

Region: Pauillac, Bordeaux, France

Viticulture: Traditional parcel-by-parcel farming. The 90-hectare vineyard is centred on the Plateau de Mouton with 10,000 vines per hectare averaging around 44 years old on very deep gravel soils. Hand harvested and strictly selected.

Winemaking: Destemmed and manually sorted before gravity-fed transfer into parcel-sized oak and stainless-steel vats. Vinified separately by parcel. Aged for around 20 months in 100% new French oak barrels, with traditional racking, topping-up and egg-white fining.

Château Mouton Rothschild is one of Bordeaux’s most famous estates, based in Pauillac on the Left Bank. Long associated with the Rothschild family, it was elevated to First Growth status in 1973, the only change ever made to the original 1855 classification. That history has become part of the château’s identity: ambitious, artistic and slightly apart from the more restrained image of classical Bordeaux.

The wine is built mainly around Cabernet Sauvignon, grown on the deep gravel soils of Pauillac. Mouton is known for its richness, dark fruit, cassis, cedar and graphite, but also for a certain flamboyance that distinguishes it from its neighbours. At its best, it combines power and polish with real ageing capacity, making it one of the great benchmarks of the Médoc and one of the most recognisable names in fine wine.
