Domaine Anne et Edmond Vatan’s Clos la Néore is one of the most revered and elusive wines of Sancerre. Based in Chavignol, the domaine is centred on a tiny parcel within the famed Monts Damnés, producing Sauvignon Blanc in a style far removed from the simple, aromatic image often associated with the appellation.

The wine is known for its intensity, restraint and remarkable ability to age. It can be deeply mineral, almost austere in youth, with citrus, herbs, smoke and a firm structural core that unfolds slowly rather than immediately. Since Anne Vatan took over from her father Edmond in 2008, the domaine has remained faithful to the same quiet, traditional approach. Clos la Néore remains a rare benchmark for Sancerre: not just a fine Sauvignon Blanc, but one of the Loire’s great white wines.
