Cesare Bussolo

Profile de Producteur | Piémont, Italie

Cesare Bussolo was born and raised in La Morra, at the heart of the Barolo region. After completing his oenological studies in the late 90s Bussolo worked at the Bovio winery in La Morra until 2006. After his time at Bovio, Bussolo joined the legendary Roberto Voerzio as an oenologist,  a role he still occupies today. In 2009, Bussolo began producing his own wines after acquiring a 90-year-old vineyard in the Santa Lucia area of La Morra and replanting it with high-density vines. Bussolo vinifies his wines in the cellars of Roberto Voerzio alongside those of his mentor.

Today, his organically farmed vineyard holdings are spread across some of the finest sites of Piemonte. Bussolo focuses on Nebbiolo and Barbera, from which he fashions his distinctive wines. Among his most notable wines are the Barolos from the towering "Fossati" and “La Serra” vineyards in La Morra and his incredibly rare Barbera d’Alba “Roscaletto”.

Bussolo is as much a product of his beloved La Morra as his wines are. This deep connection to place shines through in his harrowingly aromatic set of wines. Through close collaboration with Roberto Voerzio, he has adopted modern techniques and principles focused on quality vineyard work and precision in the cellar. His approach  is a synthesis, between tradition and innovation, marrying a deeply personal connection to terroir with modern winemaking techniques, Bussolo crafts wines of irresistible charm that express themselves remarkably well in youth.
