Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat
Winemaker Profile | Burgundy, France
Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat is an estate that needs no introduction. As one of the pearls of the Côte de Nuits, the estate’s roots have run deep in Chambolle-Musigny since its inception in the 1960s. Since 2008, Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat, has been under the baton of Charles van Canneyt, Alain Noëllat’s grandson. Charles has since positioned himself and the domaine as powerhouses of the Region. Charles’ technical finesse and dexterity have brought the domaine to new heights, so much so that the young winemaker is recognised as one of the most sought after consultants in wine.
Charles’ cherished Pinot Noir vines are cultivated on approximately 10 hectares of vineyards. The estate bears a star studded list of some of Burgundy’s most enviable sites, including the mythical Grand Crus of Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant. Vosne-Romanée les Malconsorts, an extension of La Tâche, is one of the estate’s notable 1er cru holdings. Beautifully positioned Village sites and a serious Bourgogne round out the offering. For lovers of white burgundy, a microscopic production of Meursault “clos des écoles” has proven that Charles is equally as talented a producer of red and white wines, placing him in an elite group of winemakers who pull off this feat.

The philosophy of Hudelot-Noëllat is rooted in tradition, precision, and restraint in the cellar. Vineyard work is carried out sustainably with deep concern for nature. Hand harvesting, gentle vinification, and a careful use of new oak (typically 20–30% for the crus) produce a set of wines that, vintage after vintage, reflect an elegant and fine expression of Pinot. Charles van Canneyt pursues a clear stylistic vision: wines that are delicate, profound, with lace-like tanins. Do not let this captivating style fool you, the wines of Hudelot-Noëllat age with true grace, gaining in weight and depth in the cellar.
Amelie is proud to be a part of this estate’s long history, as an official distributor as of the 2023 vintage.
