Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat
Winemaker Profile | Burgundy, France
Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat is located in the heart of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy, more precisely in Vosne-Romanée – one of the most prestigious villages in the world for Pinot Noir. Founded in the 1960s by Alain Hudelot, the estate has since become a cornerstone of the region. Since 2008, it has been run by his grandson, Charles van Canneyt. Despite his young age, Charles has successfully continued his grandfather’s legacy with fresh energy and technical finesse. In addition to his role as winemaker, he is also active as a consultant and produces a micro-négociant line under his own name.
The domaine’s clear focus is on the Pinot Noir grape, which is cultivated on approximately 10 hectares of vineyards. The parcels are spread across some of Burgundy’s most prestigious sites, including Grand Crus such as Richebourg, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Clos de Vougeot, and Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses. Small amounts of Chardonnay are also grown, appearing in select appellations such as Bourgogne Blanc and Meursault, but the heart of the estate remains firmly rooted in Pinot Noir.

The philosophy of Hudelot-Noëllat is rooted in tradition, precision, and restraint in the cellar. Vineyard work is carried out sustainably—without formal certification, but with deep respect for nature. Hand harvesting, gentle vinification, and a careful use of new oak (typically 20–30% for the crus) ensure that the wines consistently reflect the elegance and finesse of their origin. Charles van Canneyt pursues a clear stylistic vision: wines that are delicate, profound, and age-worthy—without ever appearing heavy. The result is a collection of wines that captivate both seasoned Burgundy lovers and newcomers with their balance of power and refinement.
