Blend: Typically 65–70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20–35% Merlot, Cabernet Franc andPetit Verdot

Region: Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux, France

Viticulture: Certified organic farming with biodynamic practices. The contiguous 78-hectare of 50 year old vines is planted on deep Günz gravel over clay and limestone. Hand harvested and managed parcel by parcel. 

Winemaking: Whole berries are gravity-fed into small wooden vats and fermented at around 28°C. Gentle extraction through manual punch-downs. Aged on the lees for around 18 months in French oak, generally with 60% new barrels produced in the château’s own cooperage. Racked only once during élevage.

Le Château Smith Haut Lafitte, datant du 14ème siècle à Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux, a été nommé par le marchand écossais George Smith au 18ème siècle. Appartenant à la famille Cathiard depuis 1990, le vignoble de 67 hectares cultive principalement du Cabernet Sauvignon, du Merlot et du Sauvignon Blanc. Réputé pour son agriculture biodynamique, le domaine produit des vins rouges et blancs prestigieux, alliant technologie moderne et méthodes traditionnelles.
